Living without a refridgerator Challenge - day 1

Yesterday I turned off my refridgerator and today we put it into storage. Milk and cheese have been put into a coolbox with an ice block. I'm no way ready to do without my freezer ( I've moved my freezer from the garage into the fridge space in the kitchen) but living without a refridgerator seems easy to me.
My fridge was always mostly empty and alot of the food in there would be forgotten and go mouldy. I'm hoping now extra portions of food can be cooled quickly and put straight into the freezer rather than sit in the fridge waiting to be transfered - forget - and then find it gone off too late!!!
Most people so far have said I am mad or it can't be done - so begins the challenge - I wonder how it will change the way we live? At least we'll have lower electric bills finding out!!
What do you think? Mad or Genius!!

I would think this will be very difficult. Maybe not so much for you as it would be for me.

I remember we didn't have a refridgerator until I was about 12 years old and it really wasn't that hard, although I think it would be now, I hope It all works out well for you.

Thanks for the comments!

Jimmy - alot of people are agreeing with you at first but some change their minds after I explain why / how. Why would it be more dificult for you?

Lizzie - Its scary to think how many things we have mow that we didn't have when we were kids. We don't particularly NEED them all, just want them, cause thats 'what you do' !!! It'll be interesting to find out what else I can do without if this one works out!

Wow; how is that going? We have TWO fridges and they are both full! Yogurt, meat for my lot ( I don't eat it), opened cartons of juice and soya milk. Plus, in the summer, DH goes on a high raw diet and we buy in a weeks worth of salad and fresh stuff.

I **really** admire you; I would love to do this and I know it makes sense from a 'self sufficient' point of view, but I am so used to using my fridge.

Would love to hear an update....
